Amanda (aka Roomie) is getting married next month! Her wedding shower was scheduled for Saturday, Feb 18th. I knew I wanted to throw her a personal shower! After much debate over whether to have it in KY or Chicago, we decided to have it in Chicago on the same day as her traditional wedding shower. We had a really busy weekend planned, so we decided to leave Parker in Sturgis with Grammie & Pops. Wil and I both took off work on Friday, because we knew we’d have a long day on the road. We dropped Parker off that morning and made it to Chicago about 4:30. We really enjoyed our drive. Wil got to check out all the farm equipment as I drove through the IL countryside, and Wil drove the second half of the drive on the interstate. It was nice getting there a day before the shower and getting to spend some roomie time together. We ran some errands and did a little baking to get everything ready for the next day. Amanda’s parents and her mom’s friend arrived later that night.
Saturday was smashed full of things to do! We were really glad that Parker wasn’t there mid way through the day, because he would have been miserable. We started the morning off with a bathroom schedule. We had 7 people to shower in only 1 bathroom. It’s actually surprising how smoothly the morning went. Once we were ready, we headed to Dan’s parents’ house to decorate for Amanda’s personal shower.
After decorating, we ran a few errands and headed over to Sam Buca’s for Amanda & Dan’s Wedding Shower! Dan’s mom threw this shower for them with the help of a few of her sisters and friends. It was the perfect place for a beautiful wedding shower! The women did the shower, and the guys watched hockey at the bar. I really enjoyed getting to meet Amanda’s Chicago friends and co-workers. Amanda & Dan were blessed with lots of nice gifts! (and the Italian food was delicious!)
After her regular shower, we loaded up the gifts and headed back to Dan’s house for Amanda’s Naughty & Nice Personal Shower. There was a really small intimate group of women for this shower. Obviously, we didn’t want everyone there. We ate dessert, had a few drinks, and laughed until our sides hurt! It really was the perfect end to such a fun day!
After pouting that our time together always flies by too quickly, we packed up and headed for Sturgis Sunday morning. The closer we were, the more excited we got about getting to see Parker! We’re not used to leaving him overnight. In fact, I think he’s only been away from both of us one set of times (when I was in Knoxville for work and Wil wound up in the ER with a stomach bug). Parker acted really excited to see his Daddy, but he wanted his Mommy when it was time to snuggle up for a nap!
Grammie was sure to document Parker's time in Sturgis for me :)
Thanks Grammie & Pops for watching Parker!
